March 2024 Update
Ankit Rohatgi - March 6, 2024
WebPlotDigitizer started as a small side project 10+ years ago and has grown to be used by thousands of users around the world. I am very grateful for the continuous support and feedback from the community throughout this time!
The problem of having to reverse-engineer charts has grown over the years with the explosion of data visualization libraries and overall increase in the number of publications and reports. There are also interesting new AI techniques being developed to interpret all this information. Many of these techniques are imperfect but potentially very useful when incorporated into tools like WebPlotDigitizer. The integration would make the overall process of data extraction less tedious while also maintaining accuracy and robustness. To continue supporting the research and development needed to incorporate these new techniques, I am making a few small changes to the project:
- Automeris LLC: I am moving ownership of WebPlotDigitizer to Automeris LLC (owned by me). This move should make it slightly easier to fund and add resources to this project.
- New GitHub Location: Moving WPD from my personal GitHub (https://github.com/ankitrohatgi/WebPlotDigitizer) to https://github.com/automeris-io/WebPlotDigitizer
Stay tuned for more updates!
